iMovie Project-High School Experience-

This semester I have created a four minute and 14 second iMovie about my High School Experience. This project has taught me a few things about using the iMovie app. I have learned how to add captions to pictures and videos and the importance of their placement. It is important to place the caption somewhere you can see it while the picture moves, a bold color also helps. I learned how to reduce the sound of a video and background music to increase focus on the video. I also learned how to change the size of a picture so that way it fits perfectly with the screen. My favorite picture in this video is the one of my friend Alaina and I laying on the floor making a silly face. The reason this is my favorite is because the picture was taken at a spontaneous moment while we were being dorks. It is special to me because I am not a person who normal is that spontaneous… especially when it comes to pictures. Overall, this assignment taught me a lot about using iMovie and I am excited to continue making movies! Below you will be able to watch my first iMovie.

Letter Art Project

This is my letter art project. For my first picture I chose to us two crosses to make an H for my first name- Hannah.  For my second picture I used my shoe laces to make a K for my middle name- Kaylee. For my last picture I used the top of a key as another K, for my last name- Kornele.

Job Shadowing Reflection

Describe the company (if you shadowed a person that is a private contractor, describe what service they provide) you visited.

I job shadowed the extension office under Mrs. Holliday. The Extension office has two extension educators who work in the office. Each county has an extension office with either one or two educators determined on their budget.

Describe the type of work activities you observed.

I observed Mrs. Holliday working on the task she was assigned for this week which included a newspaper article, finding a judge for an event, and  researching Christmas party ideas. Overall, the type of work Mrs. Holliday was doing today were all fun in my opinion.

What did you like best about your job shadowing experience?

I enjoyed the one on one time I received with Mrs. Holliday. This allowed me the possibility to ask her questions and take a more indepth look at the extension program.

What surprised you most about the experience?

I was surprised by the amount of time each extension agent has to put into their job. They work many hours outside of their normal work time and they also spend time traveling to different events.

If you wanted to work at a similar company you visited, what might you do to prepare over the next five years?

I do not have an interest working for the extension program but I am interested in becoming an adult volunteer. By doing this, I will still be able to work with the 4-H program but on my own time and in my own way.

Would you consider a career in the type of industry in which you job shadowed? Why or why not?

I am not interested in working in this area. I believe that the extension program is too “risky” for me since I will not have a set plan each day. I enjoy having a daily to do list and having the security of what my job entails. This is why I believe I should still become a teacher rather than an extension agent.

How did the job shadowing experience influence your career choice/goals?

This experience opened my eyes to new possibilities of ways to be involved in the 4-H program. Before I discovered my passion for teaching, I had my mind set on becoming an extension agent. I am thankful for this experience because I now know for sure that I’m not making the wrong decision by majoring in education.

3 Job Shadowing Questions

I will be job shadowing Mr. Andrews and his leadership in Yukon. Instead of asking him questions I can research on my own like “How is the pay?” I will ask him more in depth questions about his teacher life. The mail three questions I plan on asking are

  1. What are the perks or downfalls of teaching high school students over elementary students an why a leadership class over a core class?
  2.  How did you get involved in the OASC through teaching and is there any other organizations you would recommend a teacher joins.
  3.  Since teacher pay is so low in Oklahoma, would you recommend a incoming teacher to move states, major in something else rather then education, or do you believe pay will rise within the next four years?

These are the top three questions I plan on asking Mr. Andrews.
